CERTIFIED GANG
PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM

East Coast Gang Investigator’s Association (ECGIA) is offering a two-level Certification Program - BASIC and CERTIFIED GANG PROFESSIONAL. The Certifications, paired with experience, will serve as recognition that you possess a standard of professional competence, knowledge, and specialization in the area of street gangs.

ECGIA Basic Certification  

The ECGIA Basic Certification recognizes law enforcement that has limited work experience in the field of gang investigations however, they are an active member in a professional gang investigation organization and have attended gang training.  
Requirements
  • Criminal justice employee
  • An active member of a Gang Investigator’s Association.
  • Proof of attendance at an ECGIA recognized Gang Investigator’s Association training within a year.
  • Completion of the National Gang Center Street Gang Intelligence Training: www.nationalgangcenter.gov/Online-Training

Administration:  Issuance of a formal certificate upon proof of work status, membership and training completion.

Cost: $50 ECGIA Basic Certification 

ECGIA Certified Gang Professional (CGP) Program  

The Certified Gang Professional (CGP) Program certifies law enforcement that has more than five years experience, attend gang and intelligence training, hold active membership in a professional gang investigation organization and successfully pass an examination. 

Requirements
  • Criminal justice employee, in the field for more than 5 years. 
  • An active member of a Gang Investigator’s Association.
  • Proof of attendance at an ECGIA recognized Gang Investigator’s Association training within a year prior to the CGP testing.
  • Participate in on-site ‘Gangs 101’ course of instruction.
  • Successfully pass the certification exam with a score of 85% or more.
    • Applicants that do not pass the initial test have two chances within one year to retake the exam. 

Administration
  • Administration and facilitation will be provided by ECGIA members during regional training, conferences and other posted events advertised on its site: www.ecgia.org.
  • Issuance of a formal certificate upon successful completion.

Cost
$125 Certified Gang Professional for a period of 3 years.

$125 for Recertification (*requirements listed above except on-site gangs 101 is not needed)  Refunds will not be granted in any circumstance, including if an applicant does not pass the exam.
